November Floral Experience
My obsession with all things floral is pretty obvious to anyone who has spent time around me, or to anyone who has ever peeked into my closet (hopefully that's a small list of people, because that would be odd).
So it was pretty much a dream come true when I was invited to be a part of Heike Hayward's November Floral Experience. Heike is basically a floral magician, and her floral workshops are incredible exhibitions of creativity. I jumped at the chance.
When I arrived in the afternoon, the students were busy setting up their arrangements, and so I started painting the floral linen backdrops where the flowers would be placed. I used dark canvasses to create the moody atmosphere of old Dutch Master paintings, which worked beautifully with the Fleur Le Cordeur linens.
Soon the gorgeous arrangements were complete and I felt like the luckiest little artist ever to have such a beautiful still life scene to capture!
I was totally absorbed in the beautiful colours and crazy textures, and I ended up painting for 8 hours straight! I loved how the rich colours worked so well together and I'm super happy with how the paintings turned out :)
